Clone Wars 1.16
“The Hidden Enemy”
Another episode that brings the wars back tot he Clone Wars. A full fledged action episode on all angles, physical and cerebral, it is a stylized roller coaster ride. In the beginning of the episode, Anakin and Obi-Wan are on Christophsis preparing for an ambush when the tables are turned and the droids ambush the ambush. It leads to a phenomenal action piece as Anakin comes to the rescue.
Aftewards though starts the cerebral assault. It turns out the ambush was betrayed by a clone. It’s an interesting take and something I for one am glad to see explored. But it’s his motivations that really engage with the viewer and make him more sympathetic. This clone bristles under “Jedi Opression”. Doing what the Jedi tell them to do…basically being slaves to the Jedi and the Republic.
It makes me wonder if it is a side effect to Order 66 being programmed into their minds. But either way it humanizes the clones even more.
Either way before Rex and Cody can figure out who the spy is, the Jedi are waltzing right into a trap. But in true Jedi style Anakin and Obi-Wan go to spring the trap and meet Ventress who leads them into a trap full of droid armies. The Jedi escape and Slick, the Clone spy is caught but it isn’t quite a happy ending…and that’s a good thing.
Another solid edition to the series.
