Jedi Apprentice Volume 10: The Shattered Peace

Written by: Jude Watson

This installment of the Jedi Apprentice takes Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to the more primitive planets of Rutan and Senali. Two planets that had long been at war until a peace agreement alotted that the offspring of the rulers would live amongst the other races after the age of seven in order for them to get a better appreciation of the other race. Conflict arises when the more aggressive planet’s (Rutan) heir decides to stay on the more peaceful planet for good.

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon come to mediate the dispute. The king of Rutan wants to declare war believing that the Senali are brainwashing his son, Leed. He sends his younger son, Taroon with the Jedi to Senali to find him. Upon arrival, Leed has vanished. It is determined that he has gone into hiding. He has not been brainwashed and legitimately wants to stay.

Unfortunately there are those who wish to see war. In a plot of partial intrigue and partial Romeo and Juliet the misguided Taroon both falls in love with a Senali yet still tries to spark war in order for him to gain power and become King Frane’s heir.

The Jedi help discover and disable the plot and Taroon repents saving his love from an explosion that was set to spark war.

There is very little in the story to advance the overall Star Wars saga, so it’s almost a filler novel, but the intrigue is fun and it is a story worth exploring.
