Lost Tribe of the Sith Volume 1: Precipice (5,000 BBY)

Lost Tribe of the Sith Volume 1: Precipice

written by: John Jackson Miller

An E-Book short story of sorts, it acts as a prequel to the current Fate of the Jedi and their lost tribe of the Sith and the Omen spaceship. It’s an interesting time which has not been explored in the literaryverse. I will admit that I have yet to read the comics (that will come after I re-read all the short stories/novels). I have played the games but have not immeresed myself in this portion of the timeline.

With that being said, Precipice is a good introduction much like Episode IV was a good intro to the overall Star Wars story. We start right in the thick of things with little introduction. In fact quite a few times, I was wondering if I was supposed to know who these people were from something else.

I quickly realized that the freneticism was intended to draw readers in and it worked. It was quite interesting to see the Sith not just as an order, like the Jedi, but more of a functioning society.

The quick gist is that a Sith spaceship is on a mission to return some crystals to their big bosses when they are forced to crash land on a distant and remote planet. Their infighting causes much drama and fun as they try to discover where they are exactly and how they can survive.

The story is quite well done with the one exception of it being over a bit too quickly. Just as you get fully immersed and ready to know more….BOOM. It’s done. Granted I know it’s a part of a series of E-Books to come, but it still ends a bit too abruptly for my tastes.

But overall it serves as a good introduction to the society and the storyline.
