It's definitely great story material :) I'm really looking forward to more of Asimov's robot stories. Thanks for the comment, Flommy!

Flommytherobot notes that the Three Laws of Robotics would have the result of creating conflict. This is good for stories, but not so good for Robots. But then there are the Actual Laws of Robotics...

It's not absurd at all to theorize that human society 250 years from now will be intrinsically the same as it is today. Outside of technological advances, we haven't moved beyond the pettiness, war, strife, hate, sexism, homophobia, racism and conflict that defined the world in 1756. The real world tells us that for as much as we may progress and change, there are certain intrinsic things that will never change or will never go away.

Thank you very much for your viewpoint on this brilliant character. Yes, I totally agree with you, and I get a lot of flak from people that think the movies are just plain gross. I try to tell them that the movies are more than that, but I don't know anyone that can really hear my side of it. Granted, I am a fan of horror movies in general, because I know they're fake and I just think they're fun, but the Saw series brought something else to my interest. I have spent time studying abnormal psychology, so many stories of killers fascinate me (bear with me) in that it's amazing what exactly the mind can make the person do. However, in the Saw series, John was not as abnormal as people would think. He had his traumas in life, and was very upset to watch how people took so much from eachother and how much they took for granted. He wanted them to THINK and wanted them to LIVE and value their lives, except they had to go through some sacrifices to value it. Okay, I'm done. :) But thank you again for writing this.

This episode epitomizes the difference between B5 and Star Trek and demonstrates two different possible uses of science fiction.

From a purely projection of the future perspective it is absurd that human society of 250 years in the future be so little different from today. But if the author's intent is to use the story to criticize today's society then it makes sense. Some people call Star Trek socialist propaganda but consider what replicator technology would do to the economy. We are still trying to figure out what computers and the internet will do to the economy. But that depends on what we decide to do with the computers. We are interactive with the technology.

Thanks for the correction on the LBJ date.

I've heard that theory for why Delenn went into the Chrysalis so early, but I don't buy it. Some of the Grey Council did support her, and in the end that whole thread came across to me as the one bit of sloppy storytelling in an otherwise excellent episode.

Thanks for the feedback.

I completely agree with your point of view. What's difficult about my case is the fact that I love the "Punchline" album more than any other ROCK record.

Thanks.
