“The Line” is a step in the right direction towards righting the ship. Not a huge step, but it is a little more quickly paced - making up for the molasses of the beginning of the season.

Claire tries out for cheerleading, knowing she can use it to cover for her budding relationship with West. Unfortunately teen bully Debbie dismisses Claire despite he being the best candidate. Another of the cheerleaders sticks up for Claire but it is not enough. When Claire is upset, West convinces Claire that they are the special ones and they should use their powers to put Debbie back in her place.

Review: Heroes 2.02 heroes22-150x150

Lizards is a step back in the right direction, but a tentative one. The episode doesn’t do a whole lot wrong, but the overall pacing is still on the slow side overall, and not the compact focused feel of the first season. The focus of this review will be by storyline.

The Irish gang believe that Peter stole the iPods that were supposed to be in the cargo container he was found in. Peter can’t remember his name, let alone any iPods. Ricky, the leader, are pretty violent towards him although his sister, Caitlin is much more tenable. After they leave, she tends to his wounds and explains the situation.

Film Review: Bridge To Terabithia

Film Review: Bridge To Terabithia bridge-150x150

Bridge To Terabithia

Starring: Josh Hutcherson, Anna Sophia Robb, Robert Patrick, and Zooey Deschanel

Written by: Katherine Patterson, David L. Patterson, and Jeff Stockwell

Directed by: Gabor Csupo

It would be difficult to find a movie as mismarketed as Bridge To Terabithia.  If you didn’t know the story based on Katherine Patterson’s novel, you might think that Terabithia was the latest attempt to produce a children’s fantasy tale along the lines of Golden Compass or the Chronicles of Narnia.  In reality, Terabithia has more in common with My Girl than it does with Aslan.

Review: Battlestar Galactica Razor

“Razor”

Review: Battlestar Galactica Razor bsg_razor

When I first started watching BSG, the first episode I had watched, was “Black Market”, Season 2, Episode 14. So on my first go around I was about four episodes too late to see what ultimately became my favorite episode thus far, “Pegasus” and it’s surrounding arc. Therefore, when I first heard about Razor, I was pretty indifferent. I tivoed it, but I was much more interested in what was going on going forward rather than looking back so it sat for a bit. When I watched it the first time, I enjoyed it and thought while complex, was very good.

Review: Battlestar Galactica Razor Flashbacks

“Razor Flashbacks”
Review: Battlestar Galactica Razor Flashbacks bsg_razorfb

First off, much like the webisodes you have to go into these segments knowing that there will be no big revelations, nothing important will happen. It’s mostly for hardcore fans. With that in mind, it does do a better job than the webisodes do of making it relevant in telling a story in the time alotted. The webisodes main problem really revolved around trying to tell too much in too little of time. The Flashbacks simply chose a smaller story which while not earth shattering. was certainly worthy of watching.

“A Day In The Life”
Review: Battlestar Galactica 3.15 BSG_DayInTheLife

I’m not sure what to think about “A Day In The Life” yet. On one hand, it’s an exploration of humanity, which is never a bad start. And it deals with characters you always want to know a bit more about. On the other, the choice of how to handle the exploration sometimes seems mediocre at best.

Film Review: Jumper Jumper

Jumper

Starring: Hayden Christensen, Jamie Bell, Rachel Bilson, Samuel L. Jackson and Diane Lane

Written by: David S. Goyer, Jim Uhls, and Simon Kinberg Based on the book by: Steven Gould

Directed by: Doug Liman

It’s a funny story. I went to see this movie when it was out in the theaters and had to leave during the middle due to a family emergency. What I had seen thus far was definitely intriguing and over the last few months I painted different endings to the film and where it could have gone.

I was better off leaving it to my imagination.

Review: Heroes 1.11

Review: Heroes 1.11 Heroes_Fallout

While Six Months Ago was the more popular epsiode, I certainly preferred Fallout.

We open with Claire admitting her special gift and Bennet actually admits that he knew all about it and knew about it even before she did? Hmmm? Interesting train of thought. He tells her that no one must know beyond Zach and Lyle.

Back at the high school, Parkman shows off the skills that should make him a detective. He finds the extra set of footprints and they theorize what could have happened. They don’t believe Peter is Sylar, but he’s certainly their best bet.

Review: Heroes 1.09

Review: Heroes 1.09 Heroes_Homecoming

“Homecoming” was a great episode for what I like to call the “first climax”. Usually every show, the midway point is like a junior season finale…a big episode. Everything from almost every story except for the still completely detached (and therefore not as interesting) Niki storyline, has been leading to this moment and it’s good…even if it opens like a cheesy teen romance.

Review: Heroes 1.08

“Seven Minutes to Midnight” seems like Heroes needs a breather. It’s a filler episode in general. Mohinder is back in India to spread his father’s ashes. He seems ready to give up and move on with his life, but that wouldn’t be a story now would it. His mother is trying to comfort him. I don’t know if it’s becasue he’s powerless, or that he just hasn’t been able to accomplish much of anything but Mohinder’s storyline is fairly boring.

Isaac wakes up in bed with Eden tending to him. Eden comforts him by telling him they are going to help him kick the habit. Isaac believes he won’t be able to paint the future without them. Eden tells him that she went through the same thing herself. It’s an interesting look into Eden who continues to be mysterious.
