“Revolution, Part 2″
The climactic finale and final battle. Flash vs. Ming. A season…and now as it turns out a series finale, just as the series was gaining it’s footing. It is understandable why it was cancelled but it doesn’t make it any less unfortunate.
We continue where we left off. Flash has freed his father but only to send him into some kind of seizure after unhooking him from the mainframe. Upon advice from Zarkov, they shock him with an electrical current and it stops the seizure.

“Revolution, Part 1″
Flash and Terek meet as they plan how to best unite the cantons. Flash will be Terek’s mouthpiece while Ming musters her forces. After Fria makes good on her oath to trade her icewater with every canton but Ming, Ming orders an attack on Frigia.
Aura reaches out to Rankol to discuss Ming’s suspicions of him, and they reach an accord of sorts. Rankol’s loyalty is murky but it is quite intriguing.

“Cold Day In Hell”
“Cold Day in Hell” starts the finale, 2 episodes early. This is what Flash should have been all along. The epic qualities are finally brought into play. We open with Flash declaring that it is time to take Ming down and that it is their only option. He can’t destroy the rift generator, so he will destroy Ming. Making his way to the monks, he discusses the prophecies. He asks the leader to declare him the one so that the cantons would untie under him to revolt against the tyrant.

“Blame”
“Blame” continues building the political intrigue and sowing seeds of revolution that will happen by series’ end. In this case, Ming was quick thinking. After Terek took credit for sending the water to the cantons, Ming has the water poisond so everyone would turn against Terek and the Deviates.

“Ebb and Flow”
“Ebb and Flow” is the kind of episode that really turns a show around and show that it is indeed established. Unfortunately in this case it seems it came way to late to save the series, but it is a good episode nonetheless.

“Thicker Than Water”
“Thicker than Water” shakes off the remnants of bad habits returned in Possession and sends Flash Gordon hurtling towards a climactic finale. It is an episode that takes all the good of the series and minimizes all of the bad leaving us with a pretty decent show. (continue reading…)

“Possession”
While a step down from the previous episode, Possession at least partially maintains the overall arc. It is unfortunately plagued by a subplot filler story acting as an overall story, while the important portions are relegated to subplot status.

“Stand and Deliver”
It is a good sign that Flash is starting to come up with a coherent connected storyline that we actually continue where we left off in the last episode. Baylin leads Flash and Dale to the Verden homeland where they discover nothing but a smoking ruin. Further searching yields a single Verden in a trap laid by bounty hunters. He is quick to explain that Ming is selling off the Verden as slaves as the price of Barin’s assassination attempt.

“Sorrow”
“Sorrow” truly is a real step towards taking an established continuity and leading it in a direction designed to move the story forward. It works well without any glaring mistakes and thus perhaps Flash was starting to find itself.
