News: Battlestar Galactica 2 Hour Special Post Season Finale
According to ComingSoon BSG will have the first 2 hour movie shortly after the series ends. Directed by William Adama himself, it will take place just before the Cylon attack.
It will be interesting to see how much they hold back on the finale for this…but either way it’s intriguing!

I try not to comment too much on previews but I did think this looked good. It has a great central theme and is based on something besides mindless action like the other preview I just posted.

Being the mid-season finale that forces us to wait almost eight months for a conclusion, you know that “Revelations” was going to be a big episode. The question was, could it deliver? The answer is a definite yes. While far from perfect, it restores something that has been missing since the reveal of the four Cylons within the fleet. The excitement. We care about what happens next, which is what a good cliffhanger finale should do.

“Razor”
When I first started watching BSG, the first episode I had watched, was “Black Market”, Season 2, Episode 14. So on my first go around I was about four episodes too late to see what ultimately became my favorite episode thus far, “Pegasus” and it’s surrounding arc. Therefore, when I first heard about Razor, I was pretty indifferent. I tivoed it, but I was much more interested in what was going on going forward rather than looking back so it sat for a bit. When I watched it the first time, I enjoyed it and thought while complex, was very good.

Review: Battlestar Galactica Razor Flashbacks
First off, much like the webisodes you have to go into these segments knowing that there will be no big revelations, nothing important will happen. It’s mostly for hardcore fans. With that in mind, it does do a better job than the webisodes do of making it relevant in telling a story in the time alotted. The webisodes main problem really revolved around trying to tell too much in too little of time. The Flashbacks simply chose a smaller story which while not earth shattering. was certainly worthy of watching.

“Crossroads Part II”

“Crossroads Part II” is in its way more set up for the fourth season…but what a set up. While definitely cartoony in someways, it makes it no less exciting and thrilling.
In this large scale episode, it is a nice touch that we open so simply with Roslin calling Adama asking for motivation to get up. Adama tells her to get her fat lazy ass up. It’s humorous, touching, and a necessary component in order to go headlong into the rest of the episode.

“Crossroads Part I”

“Crossroads Part I” is the beginning of a slam bang finale that definitely goes overboard and stretches believability to the limit, but if taken with a grain of salt, it is very rewarding.
We begin in a dream/vision of Roslin’s as she walks through the opera house after Hera. Athena also is chasing her and is not happy to see Roslin pursue. They both find Caprica 6 and a shadowy figure take Hera. It is very reminscent of Roslin’s Chamalla-extract induced visions.

“The Hub”

“The Hub”, while somewhat overwrought at times, is entertaining if not conclusive and unlike many episodes in Season 4, it is fun to watch again.
Taking it’s cue from previous BSG style, where we open with a sequence and then show what led up to it, this time BSG has done it over the course of two episodes. We learned in the last episode a little about a supposed battle between the rebel Cylons, with a partial Galactica crew and the Hub, which appeared to be destroyed. “The Hub”, to no surprise gives us the full story.
We learn, that the death of Natalie Six is in fact the reason for the jump as the Hybrid has panicked. It is continuously jumping and it is somewhat following a trail towards the Resurrection Hub. The crew can’t unplug the Hybrid again as it has meshed itself with life support now. A little contrivance, yes, but you can ignore it.

“The Son Also Rises”

“The Son Also Rises” takes a true step towards revitalizing the franchise which had definitely been sleepwalking through its peaks and valleys by giving it a focus and a jolt in the arm.
In a very poignant opening, Admiral Adama is leafing through Starbuck’s file finding a humorous birthday card she gave him. Adama laughs and tears up. We are then shifted to another’s grieving of Starbuck — her husband. Sam is inebriated on top of a Viper, causing a scene.

“Maelstrom”

“Maelstrom” is a very unique episode. It is both brilliant yet overdone. Dramatic, yet boring. Emotional, yet stale. In short my feeling on it is one of confusion. We open with Starbuck’s listless dreaming of painting the Eye of Jupiter, being interrupted by Leoben and making passionate love to him.
