Review: The 4400 3.08
“Blink” is an example of what’s wrong with the 4400 recently. On a whole nothing is explicitly wrong with the show per se. Especially as an individual episode. But there’s no connection. The focus is again missing. This has been the biggest problem of the show thus far. No consistency in focus. The writers grab a focus and go with it for a few episodes but then it dwindles.

Review: The 4400 3.07
Yawn.
Sorry what was that? Oh yeah. “The Home Front” basically just tells you the writers have no idea where they want to go, so they grab a few bits and pieces from this old episode, and bits and pieces from this old episode in the hopes of making some connection with the viewers. But the plot holes and characterizations just don’t fit the bill.

Review: The 4400 3.06
“Graduation Day” reeks of making a decision on where to take the show and tying up a bunch of loose ends to get it there.
We begin with a dream sequence. Bad choice. Tired, boring, and obvious. Especially when Diana acts out of character and orders Tom to kill Isabelle. Anyways. Read more

“Keepers”
“Keepers” keeps up the good trend of juxtaposing Dan’s travels with learning something in his real life. THis episode in particular comes at a good time. As Dan journeys back to help out two brothers, we also get to learn morea bout Dan’s relationship with his own brother.

“Gone Part 2″
Part 2 takes the set up it was given in Part 1 and makes it work. Unfortunately a show shouldn’t have to MAKE it work. If it’s MAKING it work, that means characters and situations are being shoehorned into the plot against their will.

Review: The 4400 3.04
“Gone” is a clever episode overall, and a good set up for Part II which I knew even before I saw it would be tough to wrap. But that’s next review. Set up is generally easy, but sometimes difficult to build the proper excitement
We start with RIchard, of course, coming to Shawn’s door first thing in the morning while Isabelle lay in his bed. They don’t tell him and decide to go behind his back for now…especially after Richard just thanked him for being her friend.

“Being Tom Baldwin”
“Being Tom Baldwin” is…well passable. There’s nothing wrong with it per se…it’s just tired. It’s a 4400er of the week with a little frosting to tie it in to the main arc. But it’s also one of what I call “Those episodes”. “Those episodes” are episodes that you will find in almost every sci-fi/fantasy type show at some point in the series. I may have to actually write up a list sometime soon, but this is the “Doppleganger” episode.

“Mommy’s Bosses”
Starting off where we left off, Tom and Diana are tracking down the rogue 4400ers that never reported into quarantine and they hate it. They know NTAC is responsible but they don’t have enough to confront the higher ups.

“The Fifth Page” does a great job of setting up a finale out of a somewhat mediocre season. Each individual episode thus far had been decent, but the overall season was hit or miss and somewhat aimless. The Fifth Page gives the show a more solid focus.

Review: The 4400 2.11
“Lockdown” was something tricky. It was a filler episode full of setupitis, that remained intriguing and exciting enough that you didn’t mind that not much happened in the overall arc…two important points were simply introduced.
