Hobbes was a former SAS who turned mercenary and was often inserted into nations in need of an uprising as he would train small armies. When the Vs try to peg a warehouse destruction on him in order for the FBI to get him out of the way, Erica decides he’d be useful to recruit into the resistance. Hobbes at first isn’t interested since they can’t pay what he’s used to but he is eventually convinced by Ryan who shows him what the V’s really are.

Kyle’s first mission involved sending Ryan up to the ship to embed a signal to the spread thin fifth column on the ground. He convinces them to go and allows Georgie to fly up after him as collateral damage.

When he is framed a second time, this time in the Lisa “attack”, he uses his contacts to track down Lawrence Parker and find what he was researching. It seems he was hired to kill Parker a few weeks back but he didn’t go through with it because something didn’t seem right.

He chooses not to share the research with the fifth column, instead using it as leverage against the Vs to drop all information they have on him.

Using Erica’s mission to destroy the eggs as a backdrop, Hobbes successfully gets Marcus off the ship, but for more personal reasons. Marcus tries to hire Hobbes to infiltrate the fifth column, and suggests they have found “her”. Hobbes seems more amenable at that point.
