Charlotte Elgin

Daughter to Charles and Mary, and granddaughter to Pops.  Charlotte was a young diabetic girl who works in a local grocer shop whose owner pays her under the table to help support her poor family.  She also got some of the fruit the grocer would normally throw away.

One night she met Nathan Avery on the street and seeing how alone and hungry he was, she offered him one of her precious apples.  She then went home and gave her family the apples.   She then sold her long hair to her boss, who had long thought it was lovely, in order to pay for Pop’s medication.

She also began giving Pops her medication causing her to go into insulin shock.  As a Sci’s daughter, she couldn’t get good treatment at the regular hospital even after Emma tried to pull some strings.  Her family took her to a Sci hospital where she eventually died.

Dr. Charles Elgin

Father of Charlotte, husband of Mary, and son of Pops.  Charles Elgin worked at JD Oliver’s biochemical plant in San Francisco and stayed out of everything.

One day at the plant, Stella asked him if he had any resistance contacts, and he denied it walking away.  Later on in an attempt to get information, Nathan Avery caused a firefight that nearly killed Elgin, but his friend Blue got him out of the way.

Charles grew more listless after his daughter died from insulin shock.

When his co-worker Blue asks him for a sample of the chemical they are working on, Elgin refused still trying to keep out of anything, but when Blue is caught stealing it, he takes the sample from Blue and decided to give it to Nathan Avery who was awaiting delivery.

Charles is energized by this, but unfortunately his wife isn’t.  Mary tried to commit suicide, but Charles found her in time to save her life.

Mary Elgin

Wife of Charles, mother to Charlotte, and daughter in law to Pops.  Mary worked as a massage therapist under Emma and often asked Emma to use her influence to get more meds for Charlotte that she couldn’t given her husband was a scientist.

Her daughter went into inuslin shock.  She asked Emma to help get them into a hospital, but not even Emma’s influence could help.  They took her to a Sci hospital instead, but it was too late for her.

Mary tried to later commit suicide but was found in time by her husband who saved her life.

“Pops” Elgin
