“Powerless” takes a somewhat lackluster season and really hammered home a decent finale, gettting you set up for Season 3.

We open with basically a recap as Peter and Hiro set to square off. Peter tries to convince Hiro, but can’t, so when Hiro disappears and winds up behind Peter with his blade to his throat, Peter electrocutes the sword knocking Hiro unconcscious. It is a short but sweet battle, that works on a realistic level as well as a dramatic one.

Adam reclaims his sword and continues on with Peter.

Meanwhile Nathan and Peter find out where the virus is being held from Angela. Angela tells them that the only way to kill Adam is a shot to the head. Hmmm, as it seems that Kensei and Claire’s powers are similar, and Peter survived turning into a nuclear bomb. Hmm. A little discrepancy there, but I digress. As they leave, Angela telepathcially tells Parkman to take out Peter in the same way if it becomes necessary. Parkman looks shocked, but nods. They make it to Primatech in record time and find Hiro just awakened.

Down in the vault Peter slowly dismantles the vault by force. Another little sore point. Instead of taking the time to dismantle the door, why don’t they just phase in? Or teleport in? OH! Because they needed to stall Peter so Hiro could come again. Peter flings Hiro against the wall and holds him there so Adam can enter and “destroy”/release the virus.

Matt hows up and tries to use his powers to convince Peter to stop Adam, but Peter fights it and pushes him backwards until Nathan steps in. Nathan is able to finally convince him and so Peter rushes back towardst he vault. Once Peter lets go of Hiro, HIro teleports next to Adam and grabs him. Hiro teleports them both away but doesn’t realize that Adam was holding a vial of the virus that goes soaring towards the ground. Peter grabs it telekinetically and holds it up. Using his nuclear powers he vaporizes the virus in his hands.

Hiro returns to Ando in Japan and tells him that Adam won’t harm anyone again. We then flash to Adam who is trapped in a buried casket, screaming for release.

In the Niki/Micah/Monica arc, Micah convinces Niki to help find Monica even though she doesn’t have her powers due to the virus. I’m not sure what happened but one moment she is saying no, to let the police handle it and the next she’s like oh ok….sure!

Micah tells Monica’s cell phone to tell them where it is, and the two follow the location to an abandoned warehouse. The gang prepares to burn the warehouse down in order to get rid of the evidence and of Moncia. Niki stops the gang member from leaving by knocking him out while she enters the building. Niki is able to find Monica and the backpack and help Monica out, but Niki becomes trapped as she tries to esape…and then the building blows up.

Yay for season ending cliffhangers!

Bob approaches Bennet, asking for his help, saying that his daugther is making things difficult. Bennet smiles proudly and doesn’t appear interested in helping. Bob then says that they will be forced to take drastic measures.

Meanwhile West comes over and tells Claire that he doesn’t want to be outed. He enjoys his secrets. Claire gets upset and breaks it off with West. It’s not very logical, but then again when is young love logical?

Claire is about to go all out when she gets a visit from…her father.

Bennet tells her not to out the company and that he has made a deal with the Company. He will return to work for them, as long as they havea normal life. Claire begs him not to go, but he must. It’s a good twist, as we get to see a lot of loyalty switching, etc.

We finally get a sequence involving one of the Wonder Twins that actually has importance. Sylar interrogates Suresh and Maya FINALLY sees that Sylar is evil and that maybe she should have listened to her brothers.

While searching her father’s office, Elle sees a security camera posted on Suresh’s lab and sees Sylar. Instead of calling it in, she wants to prove her worth and take him down by herself.

After Maya learns of Alejandro’s death through Molly not being able to locate him, she freaks and challeneges Sylar. After a classic humorous look by Sylar of annyoance, he turns and shoots her in the chest.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Sylar then gets Mohinder to check the regenerative power of Claire’s blood by reviving Maya.

And here I liked Sylar. BOOO…………

Maya returns to life just as Elle enters the lab and shoots at Sylar, who grabs the blood and runs, as he is being hit by Elle. He gets away though and Elle seems genuinely upset but Mohinder boosts her ego calling her a hero that she saved all their lives.

Nathan makes a fateful decision while standing in the vault with Parkman and Peter. He decides there and then that the children of the Company won’t pick up their parents messes anymore. They are going to come clean with everything. Nathan calls a press conference to reveal their abilities and he wants Matt to “help people hear it”.

As he sets up, anchored by Parkman and Peter, he begins to tell his story when shots ring out and hit Nathan twice. Nathan goes down and the villain walks away…looking kind of like future Peter.

We shoot back to Angela who nods and says that it was necessary, but it would open pandora’s box.
Thus ends Vol. 2. And like last time we get a tease of Vol. 3.

Sylar has regained his powers and with a classic, ominous smirk, he simply says,
“I’m back”

It’s not the perfect ending, but it is a much better finale than I would have thought after the first few episodes. I look forward to Season 3.
